Empowering underprivileged children through foundational education

We sponsor primary school fees, scholarships and essential learning aids for families in economic distress across Kolkata and its suburbs — paid directly to the school, never in cash.

About us

A promise kept in their parents' name

The Jaichandlal Noratan Devi Jain Memorial Foundation was started by three sisters in Kolkata in January 2023, as a dream to promote primary education — a cause that was very close to the heart of their parents. Built on compassion, community responsibility and structural transparency, the foundation continues to bring that dream to life today.

A child who drops out at eight rarely comes back. Our whole job is to make sure the fee is never the reason. Our focus

While our primary focus is eliminating drop-out rates in early primary education, we stand ready to act as a safety net for our communities during sudden crises — the medical emergency, the lost income, the year a family cannot cover the fees.

Our core initiatives

Five avenues of deployment

Each rupee we receive travels down one of five routes — every one of them ending at a school, an institution or a hospital counter, never at a middleman.

Flagship

Primary school scholarships

Sponsoring tuition fees and school necessities for school-going children so that primary education is never interrupted. This is where most of our funding goes, and where a small grant changes the most.

Institutional partnerships

Structured financial tie-ups with verified residential schools and organisations that work predominantly with the lower strata of society.

Higher education & vocational grants

Targeted support for older students taking technical diplomas, college degrees or job-readiness skills — the step that breaks the cycle.

Digital literacy support

Desktop computers, school tools and digital learning infrastructure for suburban student clusters, to close the technological divide.

Emergency medical relief

A dedicated fund for poor families hit by sudden medical emergencies that would otherwise wipe out a child's schooling.

How we work

We find the family before we fund the fee

Grassroots outreach

We locate families in genuine financial distress through trusted personal networks, community references and poster drives in local community hubs and temples across Kolkata and its suburbs — Bally, Uttarpara and Hind Motor.

Verified background screening

Our trustees engage with the local community in person to evaluate the background, financial condition and specific needs of every applicant before any aid is approved.

Our journey so far

Three phases, in order

PHASE 01

Inception

Set up the organisational framework and baseline background-check parameters, and opened the first direct primary school scholarship streams.

PHASE 02

Growth & systems

Scaled aid through targeted institutional collaborations, streamlined the verification grid and launched urban community awareness drives.

PHASE 03

Suburban scaling

Expanded into vulnerable suburban pockets of Greater Kolkata and introduced digital infrastructure aid for students.

Financial transparency

The books are the point

A small trust earns its right to ask for money by being legible. Here is every rule we hold ourselves to, in full.

Support a child

Two doors, both open

Whether you want to fund a child's year or you need help funding your own child's, it starts with the same phone number.

Sponsor a student

Give once, or commit to a child for a full academic year. Every contribution is receipted and eligible for deduction under Section 80G.

₹25,000 is our standard grant — one student, one full school year, paid straight to the school.
  • 80G tax exemption receipt issued for every eligible contribution
  • Funds remitted directly to the institution, never handled in cash
  • Books audited annually by a firm of Chartered Accountants

Speak to a trustee directly for bank transfer or UPI details, and for the trust's registration particulars.
